Photographs of the Trinity River by Don Raines Jr.
Giving identity to the place where both sides of the river unite.
Context
Trinity River is a 10,000-acre public open space project in Dallas dedicated to bringing people from both sides of the river together. The goal is to cultivate connection: between community and environment, between recreation and restoration.
What I Did
Collaborated as a subcontractor with landscape architects, artists, engineers, conservationists, and philanthropists for the City of Dallas
Developed a primary logo and sub-region marks inspired by the river’s ecosystems
Wrote, compiled, and designed brand guidelines, later recognized with an ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) award as part of the broader design guidelines
Created collateral to promote environmental stewardship and zero-waste values
Designed wayfinding and signage for a 26-mile corridor, ensuring clarity, identity, and continuity across graphics
The Outcome
The brand gives the Trinity River project an identity that reflects its movement, its diversity of life, and its role as a welcoming public realm. Together the logos, signage, and outreach pieces help unify the visitor experience and encourage sustainable engagement with the natural world.
